Teen arrested on felony assault charges after stabbing at Carthage home

On 06/20/20 at approximately 0122 hours the Carthage Police Department received a 911 call stating a subject had been stabbed. 

An officer arrived in the 900 block of East 13th and located the victim on the front porch of a residence. They were advised the suspect had fled the scene. 








Officers gave medical aid until EMS arrived. The victim was transported to a Joplin hospital and listed in stable condition.

During the investigation, the suspect’s location was determined. 

Officers from the Carthage Police Department with the assistance of other area law enforcement agencies performed a car stop. The suspect, Osvin Fernandez, 17, was taken into custody without incident. He is currently being held at the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office on charges of Felony Assault 1stDegree and Felony Armed Criminal Action with a $500,000 Bond.
