Two injured in accident caused by blown tire on I-49, Carthage man flown to Freeman for treatment

Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident 8:45 p.m. Saturday on I-49, three miles south of Nevada.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2003 Ford Explorer driven by Hilda L. Mendez, 32, Carthage, blew a tire, ran off the right side of the road and struck a ditch.







A passenger, Otoniel Santos, 29, Carthage, was airlifted to Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, to be treated for moderate injuries.

Mendez was treated for minor injuries at Nevada Regional Medical Center.
