MSSU to offer entrepreneurship certificate

The Center for Entrepreneurship at Missouri Southern State University will offer the Entrepreneurial Planning and Management Certificate entirely online for the Fall 2020 semester.

The certificate is designed to prepare individuals to create a business plan for the purpose of starting and managing a new business, said Ken Surbrugg, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship. The online program has been made available through an a new initiative administered by the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development.

“The state of Missouri has a program called Return Strong,” he said. “It’s designed to help individuals who have been displaced or are unemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.








“This covers not just the legal components of establishing a business entity, but investigating the idea or opportunity.”

The 9 credit-hour program can be completed in just one semester. Classes will begin Monday, Aug. 17, and conclude by Friday, Dec. 11. To enroll, visit www.mssu.edu.

Qualifying individuals can receive up to $4,000 toward the certificate, Surbrugg said. To find about more about applying for the Return Strong training voucher, contact the Workforce Development office at 417-629-3000.
