Carthage man faces DWI, felony drug charges following injury accident east of Joplin

A Carthage man was charged with driving while intoxicated and felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute following a two-vehicle injury accident 1:13 p.m. Thursday on MO 66 and Kenser Road, two miles east of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2003 Ford F-150 driven by Braden F. Mathern, 24, Carthage, rear-ended a 2002 Ford Escape driven by Joseph A. Looney, 42, Monett.








Looney was treated for minor injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.

Mathern was also charged with careless and imprudent driving, no insurance and for not wearing a seat belt.
