Newsmakers program scheduled with Joplin city manager on COVID-19, Stronghold Data representative on cybersecurity

(From Southern News Service)

Cybersecurity and a familiar face highlight the next two editions of “Newsmakers” on KGCS-TV.

Nick Edwards (MSSU ’07) is the featured guest on the show that airs the week of August 16.

Joplin’s new city manager sits down with Judy Stiles, host and KGCS general manager, to talk about the latest news involving the city during the COVID-19 pandemic – and also provides information about a survey seeking input from citizens regarding the city.

The show airing the week of August 23 features Jason Rincker from Strong Hold Data. He addresses concerns over cybersecurity as more people work from home and more students take online courses.

“Newsmakers” airs in the evenings on KGCS-TV, and on Saturday mornings at 5:30 a.m. on KOAM-TV. The programs are also posted on the station’s YouTube channel (KGCS Missouri Southern).

KGCS programing can be seen on channel 21, and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
