Koinonia Campus Ministry Housing topic on Newsmakers program

(From KGCS)

Koinonia means fellowship in Latin and it is the driving force of the campus ministry with the same name. On Newsmakers, ministry leader David Weaver explains how Koinonia got its start back in 1967 and how it has grown to have its own property and houses.

Members of the Missouri Southern State University cross country team, who share one of the houses, give viewers a tour and talk about the accountability that comes from living with those who share the same beliefs.

The campus ministry also holds a free meal every Thursday followed by fellowship and worship. Students explain how that connection brings them a sense of home. Staff members join the conversation explaining how small group meetings help students navigate the changes and challenges present in college life.

The show (a rebroadcast from March, 2023) is airing nightly at 5 and 9 p.m. the week of January 14 and will be broadcast at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, January 20, on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel – KGCS Missouri Southern.

KCGS programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communications at Missouri Southern State University.
