On Thursday, January 11, 2024, Joplin Police officers responded to E 32nd Street and S Finley Avenue for a collision involving a pedestrian.
It was determined that a vehicle
traveling west on 32nd Street in the outside lane struck a pedestrian crossing
32nd Street in the middle of the block between Finley and Park. There were no injuries to
any of the occupants in the vehicle.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital by ambulance in serious condition.
The pedestrian, Wiliam T Heskett III, age 59 of Joplin died of his injuries on Sunday, January 14th, 2024. The Joplin Police Department Major Crash Team in conducting the investigation into this incident. This marks the second fatal vehicle versus pedestrian crash of 2024 in the City of Joplin
