Carthage driver suffers serious injuries, cited for DWI in crash on 60

A Carthage man was cited for driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident 11:20 a.m. today on U. S. 60 a quarter of a mile east of Neosho.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2004 Toyota Corolla driven by Mike A. Mendez-Hernandez, 22, Carthage, ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail then went off the left side of the roadway and struck another guardrail, returned to the roadway, went off the right side and struck a fence and multiple trees.

Mendez-Hernandez was treated for serious injuries at Mercy Joplin.
