(From the City of Joplin)A significant road project that will run the length of Maiden Lane is scheduled to begin next week.
On Wednesday, July 22, a contractor for the City of Joplin will begin a mill and overlay project that will run from the north end of Joplin down to south of 32nd Street. The work will begin at Perkins and North Maiden Lane and will progress to the City’s south limits.
Mill and overlay is an asphalt technique that removes the top layer of deteriorated pavement and replaces it with fresh asphalt.
Maiden Lane will remain open to traffic during the duration of the project, but drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes due to persistent lane closures.
When the Maiden Lane project is complete, crews will repeat the process on Lone Elm Road. It will also remain open but will be reduced to a single lane and will be flagged. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes there, as well.
