A Mount Vernon girl was injured in a one-vehicle accident 10:05 p.m. Tuesday on County Road 2127 two miles east of Mount Vernon.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2013 Ford Focus driven by a 16-year-old Mount Vernon boy was slowing to make a turn and began to skid over gravel. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch.
A passenger, a 16-year-old Mount Vernon girl, was treated for serious injuries at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
