Joplin CVB announces casting call for marketing campaign

(From the Joplin Convention and Visitors Bureau)

The Joplin Convention & Visitors Bureau will be conducting a casting call for actors/models for specific roles for a 2015 marketing campaign. The campaign, which will link parts of Joplin’s history with current-day points of tourism interest, will require photographic support detailing both specific people and locations.

Details of the campaign have been outlined but not publically released. According to Patrick Tuttle, Executive Director of the CVB, “With any campaign once we have a basic theme and idea, photography and graphic designs are developed. This will be an year-long story where all facets of the campaign will link in a common theme.”

Supporting the project will be 9Art and LTMS

The casting call will be held from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. on December 8 & from noon to 5 p.m. on December 9 in the Basement Conference Room of Joplin City Hall.

Selected cast members must be available for photographic shooting between the 4th and 17th January 2015.

Barton County Route J to close for pipe replacement

On Dec. 2 for Pipe Replacement Work

When: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tues., Dec. 2

Where: Barton County Route J CLOSED between Route 160 and SW 20th Road west of Lamar

What: MoDOT crews replacing drain pipes underneath the road

Details: Drivers will have to find an alternate route around the closing. Drivers will be able to get to driveways and other entrances on either side of the closing. However, they will NOT be able to travel through the work zone.

Weather and/or construction delays could postpone the project.

Joplin woman escapes injury in two-vehicle crash near Springfield

A Joplin woman escaped injury following a two-vehicle crash 6 p.m. Sunday on I-44 one-half mile west of Springfield.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2002 Saturn SL driven by Shelby L. Greninger, 20, Joplin, and a 2009 Ford Fusion driven by Lesa M. Chastain, 52, Arcola, were exiting I-44 at MO 266 when the Greninger vehicle rear-ended the Chastain vehicle.

Chastain was treated at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, for minor injuries. A passenger in the car, Charlton C. Chastain, 54, Arcola, also received minor injuries, but did not seek treatment at the time.
