Snow, sleet, freezing rain expected to begin Thursday morning in Joplin area

ACCUMULATING WINTER PRECIPITATION WILL IMPACT THE MISSOURI OZARKS
AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY WITH THE COLDEST
AIR MASS OF THE SEASON MOVING INTO THE AREA FRIDAY NIGHT AND
CONTINUING INTO THE WEEKEND.
A MIX OF SNOW...SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN WILL OVERSPREAD THE AREA
THURSDAY MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY. LIGHT SNOW WILL
CONTINUE INTO THURSDAY EVENING BEFORE ENDING FROM THE
WEST. ANOTHER ROUND OF SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP LATE THURSDAY
NIGHT INTO FRIDAY ACROSS THE REGION...RESULTING IN ADDITIONAL
ACCUMULATIONS.
WHILE PRECIPITATION TYPE AND EXACT AMOUNTS REMAIN UNCERTAIN...LIGHT
TO MODERATE ACCUMULATIONS OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION ARE EXPECTED.
AT THIS TIME...THE HIGHEST SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED ROUGHLY
30 MILES ON EITHER SIDE AND INCLUDING THE INTERSTATE 44
CORRIDOR...WITH THE HIGHEST ICE ACCUMULATION POSSIBILITIES OVER
SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI. TRAVEL ACROSS THE REGION COULD BE
IMPACTED BEGINNING THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY.
