The 52nd annual International Film Festival will continue with a screening of “Camila” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, in Plaster Hall’s Cornell Auditorium at Missouri Southern State University.
Filmed in Argentina in 1984, “Camila” is the story of a young socialite who elopes with a priest resulting in scandal and controversy during the De Rosas dictatorship in the 19th century. Based on an actual event, the film has been called “beautifully acted and superbly told” by the Washington Post, and “one of the best Argentine pictures ever” by Variety. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Presented by the Missouri Southern Film Society and the Institute of International Studies, admission is free and open to the public.
The series will continue on March 11 with the 1954 Polish film “Five from Barska Street.”
