Fire causes evacuation of Jim Bob's Steak House

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported Structure Fire at 3129 E Hammonds Blvd, aka Jim Bob’s Steak House at 9:35 PM, Friday, 07 February, 2014.

Fire crews arrived on the scene at 9:39 PM to find a single story masonry structure with smoke showing from the north side and from the attic area. Crews entered the structure from the north door and extinguished the fire. There was moderate fire, smoke and water damage to the kitchen and storage area of the restaurant. The fire was declared out at 10:04 pm. Crews remained on scene at the time of this writing.
 
The restaurant was occupied at the time of the fire with approximately 10 customers and 15 employees. Everyone immediately evacuated. 


No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or others in the area. Five Joplin Fire units and 16 Joplin Fire personnel responded as well as JPD and METS. Efforts were hampered by the 16 degree temperatures and resulting frozen water on the parking lot.


The cause of the fire is still under investigation at the time of this writing.
