Jasper Police: We will enforce laws on adequate shelter for pets left in cold

(From the Jasper Police Department)

We have received way too many calls about pets being left outside in the cold without adequate shelter.

We will be watching for this and we WILL enforce the ordinance regarding having adequate shelter for your pets by issuing citations.

A dog is not just a dog to us here at the Jasper Police Department, so basically you have dog/animal lovers who will be enforcing this.

So the best thing to do is if you're going to leave your dog/cat outside, make sure they have shelter, preferrably with straw, a blanket or other material to keep them warm. Please get the word out and report too us if you see an animal without adequate shelter when kept outside.

Better yet, when temeperatures are extreme (below 30 degrees), just bring your lil' cute furballs inside.

You are welcome to message us on here or call/text 417-483-6261 to report any animals you feel are being abused.
