Joplin residents taken to Mercy Springfield with serious injuries after car-moped collision

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision 8:37 p.m. Monday on MO 249, a half mile north of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2013 Toyota Tacoma driven by James R. Wilkerson, 72, Fort Smith, Arkansas, struck a moped driven by Justin B. Anderson, 16, Joplin in the rear.

Wilkerson was treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

Anderson and a passenger, Larissa L. Anderson, 40, Joplin, were taken to Freeman West, then transferred to Mercy Hospital, Springfield, to be treated for serious injuries.
