So you want to be a Neosho city manager

The following advertisement has been posted for a Neosho city manager:

The City of Neosho is a vibrant community of over 12,000 people located at the beautiful
southwest corner of Missouri. Neosho has been the county seat of Newton County, Missouri,
since 1839. First settled in the early 19
th century the City of Neosho has a rich history which
includes, contributions in railroading, the aerospace industry and the American Civil War. In
1957 Neosho was one of eleven cities in the nation to receive the National Municipal League and
Look Magazine All-American City award for outstanding civic effort.

Neosho is a Home Rule Constitutional Charter City which operates under the council-manager
form of government with a five-member City Council elected at large, which appoints a Mayor
and Mayor Pro-Tempore from among its body to serve in their leadership capabilities for a term of
one year.

Neosho currently has an opening for a City Manager. The City Manager is a senior level
professional position. The City Manager is the executive and administrator of the City of
Neosho. Specific duties and responsibilities of this position can be obtained at the City of

Charter and Code, Charter Section 3.03.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s Degree in Public or Business Administration from an accredited college or university is preferred; however a Bachelor’s Degree in Public or Business Administration is acceptable with six (6) plus years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government as a City Manager or Assistant City Manager. A criminal and credit report will be conducted on all otherwise qualified applicants.
