Jasper Police arrests Lamar man with drug history following traffic stop

(From the Jasper Police Department)

On Thursday, February 23, 2017, officers with the Jasper Police Department made a traffic stop on vehicle after it was reported by a citizen for suspicious activity.

After learning the persons inside the vehicle had a past history for illegal drug use and the passenger having a probation/parole hit for possession of a controlled substance, officers conducted a consent search of the persons/vehicle.

Found on the passenger, a Lamar man, were prescription narcotics (not in a marked container with the person's name on it) and a bottle with an unknown liquid inside that he said was urine.

Offenders on probation and parole will often have a urine sample from somebody they know will pass a drug test in an attempt to use the urine for their own drug tests.

The person was wearing two sets of pants, the underneath pair is where the urine was found. It was reported to his probation and parole officer.

Thank you to the citizen who reported the suspicious activity. We encourage everybody to report suspicious people, vehicles, etc. We can't always be everywhere at once and we count on you all to be our eyes and ears sometimes.
