Cause of house fire at 1816 S. Pennsylvania under investigation

On Monday, 12 August 2019, at 12:32 PM the Joplin Fire Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire at 1816 S Pennsylvania.

The first fire crew arrived on scene at 12:37 PM to find a one-story wood framed house with heavy smoke and fire showing from the back side. 

Crews attacked the fire from the bedroom side and extinguished it. The fire was declared under control at 1:10 PM. Fire crews remained on scene until 2:31 PM.







There were no injuries to firefighting crews or civilians. 5 people in the house escaped, uninjured.

The Joplin Fire Department responded with 7 units and 21 personnel and was assisted by the Joplin Police Department and METS Ambulance Service. The Red Cross was called to assist the occupants.

The cause of fire remains under investigation.:
