Barton County Sheriff warns of scam

(From the Barton County Sheriff's Office)

The scammers are at it again. They are spoofing our phone numbers and calling people saying you have missed court, or that you have a warrant for your arrest, or claiming that they are apart of Medicaid and wanting to help you out with some very untruthful story.

They ask you to do such things as to pay to make the warrant go away or sign up with your personal information to get different kinds of medical benefits.

We as a Sheriff's Office do not ever call anyone and tell them they have a warrant. We make a personal appearance to let you know.

Do not give out your personal information or any kind of banking informaiton. Once your money is gone it is very difficult if not impossible to get it back.

Do not fall for this scam or any like it. Simply hang up.
