World War I Mobile Museum coming to Joplin Public Library

(From the Joplin Public Library)

Joplin Public Library (JPL) is honored to be home to the largest mobile World War I museum during the week of September 8.

The museum will open for visitors on Sunday, September 8 and will remain open until Friday, September 13; with a closing reception scheduled from 6 to 7:30 pm on Thursday, September 12. All ages are encouraged to attend this memorable and moving experience in the library’s Community Room, during regularly scheduled library hours.

The World War I Mobile Museum is dedicated to the brave souls that fought and died in that war. According to the museum’s creator, Keith Colley, “100 years ago a promise was made! A promise to NEVER forget the millions who lost their lives in WW1 for the freedoms we hold so dear 100 years later!” And the museum is his part in honoring that promise.

“It’s such a unique exhibit, we think it’s going to be of great interest to the Joplin community and beyond, especially those interested in historic memorabilia,” said Library Director Jeana Gockley.

The Library thanks the Post Art Library, American Legion Post 13, Joplin Convention & Visitors Bureau, Leggett & Platt, and the Jean, Jack, and Mildred Lemons Charitable Trust for their partnership in bringing this event to Joplin.
