Seneca Police Department Arrests

On 8/2/20, Officer Zimmerman made a traffic stop at Cherokee/Washington for an equipment violation. One of the female passengers, Amber England had a warrant out of Granby for: Fail to Register Motor Vehicle. England was arrested and transported to Newton County Jail.

On 8/1/20, Officer Zimmerman was advised by dispatch that they had received a call about a C&I driver headed towards Seneca on Hwy 60. Officer Zimmerman observed the vehicle and made a traffic stop near the Roundabout. The driver was arrested and booked for DWS and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The driver was then transported to Newton County Jail.

On 8/1/20, Officer Fort noticed a vehicle broke down on Wyandotte/Shawnee and a man leaning against it. The subject, Heath Ellington had 2 warrants. One warrant out of Newton County for: FTA Possession of Controlled Substance and one out of Carthage for: FTA C&I Driving. Ellington was arrested on his warrants and transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/30/20, Officer Housley initiated a traffic stop at Washington/Billings for an equipment violation. The vehicle then accelerated speeds and a pursuit began. The pursuit ended in the woods at Redbud. The driver, Zachary Workman had several Felony warrants out of Newton County for: Delivery of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful use of Weapon. Workman was arrested on his warrants and also booked for several new charges. Workman was transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/30/20, Officer Housley made a traffic stop at Hwy 60/Hwy 43 for an equipment violation. The driver, Clayton Burke had 5 warrants out of Joplin. 2 FTA warrants for: No Driver’s License, 2 FTA warrants for: No Insurance, and a FTA warrant for: No License Plates. Burke was arrested on his warrants and transported to Joplin where a Joplin Officer took custody of him.

On 7/30/20, Officer Housley made a traffic stop at Mill/Bluff St for a moving violation. The driver was arrested for DWR and transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/29/20, Officer Thiel made a traffic stop at Washington/Billings for an equipment violation. The driver was arrested for: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The driver was also charged with Possession and DWS. The driver was transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/28/20, Officer Fort initiated a traffic stop for an equipment violation, but the vehicle continued eastbound. Officer Fort activated his siren twice and the vehicle pulled over at Hwy 60/Steele Ln. The driver, Robert Wantland had a McDonald County Felony warrant for: Theft of Copper and a Felony warrant out of Benton County for: Theft of Property. The female passenger, Evelyn Wantland had a Felony warrant out of McDonald County for: Stealing Copper and a Jasper County warrant for: Passing Bad Checks. Both subjects were transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/27/20, Officer Kirby made a traffic stop at Hwy 43/Hwy 60 for speeding. The driver was arrested for DWR and transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/26/20, Officer Zimmerman made a traffic stop at Cherokee/Chippewa on an equipment violation. The driver, Logan Busick had a warrant out of McDonald County for: Moving Traffic Violation. Busick was arrested on his warrant and transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/25/20, Officer Zimmerman made a traffic stop at Billings/Onieda on a suspicious vehicle. The driver was arrested for: Possession and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and given 2 citations. The backseat passenger was arrested and cited for: Possession and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both subjects were transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/25/20, Officer Fort made a traffic stop at the Roundabout on a vehicle that drove straight through the middle of the roundabout. The driver had slurred speech when answering questions and the smell of alcohol was coming from the vehicle. The driver could barely walk and stand. The driver refused to do the Field Sobriety Test and Blood Test. The driver was then arrested and cited for: DWI, C&I Driving (involving an accident), Property Damage, Open Container, and No Insurance. The driver was also issued a notice of Revocation for his driver’s license.

On 7/24/20, Officer Zimmerman made a traffic stop at Washington/Thomas Ln for an equipment violation. The driver was arrested for: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and given a citations for No Insurance. The driver was transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/24/20, Officer Fort made a traffic stop at Cherokee/ Centennial for an equipment violation. The driver, James Moran had a warrant out of Newton County for: FTA Passing Bad Checks. Moran was arrested and transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/23/20, Officer Zimmerman was dispatched to a 2 motor vehicle accident on Washington Ave. The driver of one of the vehicles was arrested for: DWS and transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/20/20, Officer Zimmerman made a traffic stop at Mill/Bluff St for an equipment violation. The driver, Brian Friend had a warrant out of Neosho for” Financial Responsibility. Friend was arrested on his warrant and for DWR and transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/19/20, Officer Zimmerman made a traffic stop at Gas-N-Snack for an equipment violation. The male driver was arrested and booked for: DWR, Obstructing Police, False Information to Police and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The female passenger, Angel Tiller had a Felony Warrant out of Texas County for: Arson-Business-Endangered Life and Possession of Controlled Substance. Both subjects were transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/17/20, Officer Thiel made a traffic stop at Washington/Billings for an equipment violation. The driver, Jason Powell was arrested on a warrant out of Marshfield for: FTA Stealing. The female passenger was arrested for: Possession of Controlled Substance. Both subjects were transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/17/20, Officer Housley attempted to make a traffic stop at Hwy 60/Steele Ln for moving violations. The vehicle didn’t stop and a pursuit began. Officer Fort joined in on the pursuit. The pursuit ended at Hwy 60/Hwy 10 in Oklahoma. The driver was issued citations for: Fail to Yield, C&I Driving, Speeding, and Resisting Arrest. The driver was then placed under arrest by an Ottawa County Deputy and they transported the driver to their jail.

On 7/17/20, Officer Thiel arrived at an address in reference to warrant service. Officer Thiel made contact with Samantha Slaughter who had shown up for community service. Slaughter was known to have a warrant for Newton County for: Fail to Display Plates. Slaughter was arrested and transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/16/20, Officer Thiel made a traffic stop at Cherokee/Frisco for multiple equipment violations. The driver, Jason Stewart had a warrant out of Anderson for: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Stewart was arrested on his warrant and transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/16/20, Officer Housley made a traffic stop at Washington/Billings for an equipment violation. The driver, Delia Taylor was arrested on a warrant out of Carterville for: Domestic Assault. The passenger was arrested for: Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both subjects were transported to Newton County Jail.

On 7/14/20, Officer Zimmerman made a traffic stop at Big Daddy’s for an equipment violation. The driver, Karla Welch had 5 NO BOND Bench Warrants out of Delaware County. A Bench warrant for: FTA Uttering Forged Instrument Class A Felony No Bond, Bench warrant for: FTA No Bond, Bench warrant for: Bail Jumping x2 Class A Felony No Bond, Bench warrant for: FTA Knowingly Concealing Stolen Property Class A Felony No Bond, Bench warrant for: Falsely Personate Another to Create Liability Class A Felony No Bond. Welch was arrested on her warrants and multiple new charges and transported to Newton County Jail.
