Sarcoxie woman injured after going airborne, crashing while fleeing from Webb City Police


A Sarcoxie woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident 12:50 p.m. today on Route JJ, one mile south of Carl Junction.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor driven by Yolanda D. Smith, 36, Sarcoxie, while fleeing from Webb City Police, swerved to avoid a tire deflation device, drove off the right side of the roadway, struck two culverts, went airborne and overturned, ejecting Smith.

Smith was treated for moderate injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
