According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1999 BMW 323I driven by Keenan J. Barnard, 22, Carthage, traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a MODOT sign and overturned, ejecting Barnard.
The vehicle then struck a tree and a rock before coming to its final rest upright facing southward.
Barnard and a passenger, Zildjian Sylva, 18, Carthage, were treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
