Jasper Police arrest Purdy man, recover vehicle stolen in Barton County

(From the Jasper Police Department)

On May 2, 2022 at 7:35 hrs, Jasper Police Department Sgt. Amber Ashby was patrolling Pete's parking lot located at 309 N. Sixth Street, Jasper, Missouri when she located a suspicious person asleep in the driver's seat of a green Toyota Tacoma pickup, bearing a MO license plate.

After running a check of the license plate on the vehicle, it came back to a Honda passenger car.

Sgt. Ashby received information earlier that the Barton County Sheriff's Office was in the process of taking a report of a stolen green, Toyota Tacoma with a camper shell.

Sgt. Ashby and Cpl. Hildebrandt made contact with the subject identified as Lance A. Spencer from Purdy, MO.

Spencer stated the vehicle was a friend's and that he was traveling from Kansas City. Barton County Sheriff's Department arrived on scene and confirmed the truck was the one stolen from Barton County.

Spencer was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. The vehicle and stolen items found in the vehicle were returned to the owner.
