Coffee with Carver event planned at Carver Monument

The staff of George Washington Carver National Monument invites you to attend Coffee With Carver, February 16th at 10:00 a.m. 

During this program, entitled Expressions of the Soul, a park ranger will share photographs and in-depth information about George Washington Carver’s artistic expression. Some of his original artwork is on display in the visitor center. 

From textiles and needlework to pottery and painting, George Washington Carver’s work demonstrates creativity and resourcefulness. 

Following the presentation, a park volunteer will lead a hands-on wool felting activity. Participants will make a felted mini brooch to take home.






 

The final Coffee With Carver is set for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 16th. The presentation is entitled George Washington Carver’s Agricultural Bulletins: Some Choice Wild Vegetables and will focus on his work encouraging families to enrich their meals with readily available plants. Following the presentation, a park volunteer will display wild edible plants.

Fresh coffee and hot tea will be available. Geared for adults, Coffee With Carver is supported by the Carver Birthplace Association and by the Volunteers In Parks program.
