Shane Newby to be honored at R-7 Foundation Banquet as 2023 Distinguished Citizen

The Webb City R-7 Schools Foundation is pleased to announce our 19th Annual Honors Banquet will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023 at the Webb City High School Dome. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $30.00 each and may be purchased at the Webb City R-7 School District Administration Building, located at 411 N. The Foundation will be honoring Shane Newby as the 2023 Distinguished Citizen. Shane was born and raised in Webb City, MO to Stan and Jeanne Newby. He attended school in Webb City and graduated with the Class of 1988.








After graduation, Shane joined the Navy working on F/A-18 aircraft. Additionally, he was a part of the Emergency Recovery Team, a CPR Instructor and worked on the ejection seats in aircraft cockpits. He proudly served our country before being honorably discharged after four years of service. Shane worked for AT&T for eighteen years; 7 years as a splicer and 11 years as an outside repairman.

Shane and his wife, Kristi, have been married 30 years raising three children: Dakota, Derick and Mariah. They have four grandchildren: Natalie, Abbott, Callum and Sélah.

Shane has been and continues to be an active member in the Webb City community. He has served in various volunteer capacities including trivia night for the WCR7 Foundation.








In addition to the Distinguished Citizen, the Foundation will also be celebrating the 2022-2023 Hall of Fame inductee: James “Jim” Jordan, five (5) Pillars of Education: Kay Clark, Pat Forste, Amanda Green, Dean Salchow and Jonnie Sue Scofield and the 2023 Foundation Staff Grant recipients.

This event is a continuation of its efforts to honor deserving citizens in our community, publicizing the Foundation’s efforts to expand in other areas for the betterment of our students and to raise funds supporting the Districts’ mission of preparing students for their future.
