October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month but the disease, that will strike one in every eight women, can become a lifelong journey. This week on Newsmakers, Hope4You board members discuss their mission to ensure any woman can get a screening mammogram and get access to treatment.
Board member Brenlee Buerge gives details of the Race4Hope happening October 28, while members Pat Lipira and Judy Schneider share their personal experiences of being diagnosed and treated for breast cancer.
Mercy Medical Oncologist Dr. Samir Dalia explains the latest treatments available and improvements in both detection and medications in a video news story.
Member of the MSSU chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha share the sorority’s national philanthropic mission to raise funds at sporting events including MSSU football games.
Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 and 9 p.m. the week of October 8 on KGCS-TV and will be broadcast at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, October 14, on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS - Missouri Southern State University.
KGCS programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communications at Missouri Southern State University.
