McCune woman sentenced to 330 months for two counts of second degree murder

The second of two suspects involved in a 2020 double homicide has now been sentenced.

Kimberly Blizzard, 32, of McCune, was given a 330-month sentence in Cherokee County District Court earlier this week after pleading guilty to two counts of 2nd Degree Intentional Murder.

On the morning of Sunday, June 14th , 2020, Cherokee County Sheriff's Investigators and Agents with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation responded to a rural area north of Columbus, after the bodies of Blaze Swank and Kylan Shook were discovered.

The following day law enforcement located and apprehended Mark Hopkins II for his role in the murders.

On Tuesday, June 16, 2020, Blizzard was taken into custody in connection with the case.

In December, 2021, Hopkins was sentenced to life imprisonment.
