TRAFFIC ALERT: New Traffic Pattern for Route 43/86 in Newton Co. Under I-44 Beginning Oct. 20

Where: Missouri Route 43/86 (Hearnes Boulevard/Main Street) under I-44 in Joplin

When: Beginning Sunday, October 20 through Friday, October 25

What: Contractor crews will CLOSE one lane of Route 43/86 (Hearnes Boulevard/Main Street) in both directions between the ramps at I-44 while contractor crews remove the bridge deck/driving surface on the westbound I-44 bridge overhead

Traffic impacts

One driving lane of Route 43/86 (Hearnes Boulevard/Main Street) CLOSED in both directions at these times:4 p.m., Sunday, October 20 until 2 a.m., Monday, October 21

4 p.m., Monday, October 21 until 2 a.m., Tuesday, October 22

4 p.m., Tuesday, October 22 until 2 a.m., Wednesday, October 23
4 p.m., Wednesday, October 23 until 2 a.m., Thursday, October 24

4 p.m., Thursday, October 24 until 2 a.m., Friday, October 25

All driving lanes OPEN to traffic in both directions between 2 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day

North- and southbound left turn lanes remain CLOSED

East- and westbound Route 43/86-to-I-44 on ramps remain CLOSED

Both I-44 off-ramps at Exit 6 remain OPEN

Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone

Watch for equipment and crews entering and exiting the work zone

Drivers should consider alternate routes during the project

Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.

This work is part of a project to rehabilitate the westbound I-44/Missouri Route 43/86 bridge (Exit 6) in Joplin.
