(From the Pittsburg Police Department)On Wednesday morning, July 16, 2025, at approximately 8:45 AM, law enforcement officers with the Pittsburg Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of E. 7th Street, in Pittsburg, in reference to a report of a possible domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, an officer located the persons involved in the disturbance near the intersection of E. 7th Street and N. Elm Street and attempted to meet with them. Williams, of Pittsburg, got into a silver Nissan Sentra and began to flee from the area in the vehicle.
The officer initiated a motor vehicle pursuit and began to pursue the vehicle east on 7th Street and then south on Joplin Street. The vehicle continued to flee from the officer at a high rate of speed,
heading south on Joplin Street for approximately nine blocks, to the National Mini Storage facility, located at 201 S. Joplin Street. There, the vehicle began to move onto the storage facility property, but Mr. Williams lost control of his vehicle and struck a fence.
heading south on Joplin Street for approximately nine blocks, to the National Mini Storage facility, located at 201 S. Joplin Street. There, the vehicle began to move onto the storage facility property, but Mr. Williams lost control of his vehicle and struck a fence.
The officer pulled into the storage facility after the vehicle and began approaching Mr. Wiliams, who attempted to flee again in the vehicle. However, due to damage sustained during the initial crash, Mr. Williams’ vehicle was only able to lurch forward where it struck a storage building. The officer then attempted to take Mr. Williams into custody, but Mr. Williams began physically resisting the officer. Two additional officers arrived on scene and all three were able to eventually take Mr. Williams into custody after a brief struggle.
Due to the nature of Mr. William’s collision, first responders from the Pittsburg Fire Department and Crawford County EMS were dispatched to National Mini Storage to assist. Mr. Williams was subsequently transported to Mercy Hospital, in Pittsburg, for treatment.
Mr. Williams' Nissan Sentra was later towed from the scene. However, prior to being towed, a procedural inventory was conducted of the vehicle and items of contraband believed to be cocaine and other illegal drugs were located in the vehicle and were seized.
After Mr. Williams was apprehended, officers and deputies from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office followed up with the other subjects from the original call and learned that Mr. Williams had physically battered and threatened two female victims at a residence in the 300 block of E. 7th Street, prior to officers being dispatched.
Mr. Williams was later released from Mercy Hospital, and he was then transported to the jail, at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for booking. Mr. Williams was arrested for felony fleeing or eluding law enforcement, felony aggravated assault to a law enforcement officer, felony criminal threat, felony criminal damage, felony interference with law enforcement, felony possession of narcotics, misdemeanor battery, misdemeanor domestic battery, operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and operating a motor vehicle without lawful registration.
