(From the Joplin Police Department)
The Joplin Police Department would like to invite members of the community, media, and officers’ families to our formal Badge Pinning Ceremony on Monday February 6th, 2017 at 5:40p.m. in the City Council Chamber on the 5th Floor of City Hall. This pinning will recognize five officers that have recently been promoted within the department.
The pinning of the badge is normally done under two circumstances. The first being when a new police officer has completed their academy work and progresses to their next phase, which is field training. The second is upon promotion and advancement of rank.
The badge being a symbol that is earned, will be presented to the officers by the Chief of Police. They will then be pinned by a person of their choosing, that has and will support them through the highs and lows of their career.
Being a profession with deep-standing traditions passed from generation to generation. The badge pinning is a way to honor those that serve
