(From the Joplin Fire Department)
The Joplin Fire Department has released its 2016 Annual Report. The document provides an overview of each division in the department and highlights various projects throughout the year. With more than 8,200 calls for service the firefighters assisted in fires, rescues, medical emergencies, hazardous material spills and public service requests.
One of the highlights this year was the Fire Department’s ISO (Insurance Services Office) rating was moved to a 2 classification from a 3 category that it held for several years.
“I am proud of our department for this accomplishment,” said Fire Chief Furgerson. “Improvement to the ISO rating is a direct result of added personnel, stations, and the addition of a formal training facility. We will continue to work towards maintaining and improving our ISO rating as it ensures lower insurance rates for the citizens and businesses in Joplin.”
