Joplin Police: No evidence to support social media rumor of child abduction at Lowe's

This morning, the police department was made aware of a post circulating on social media in regard to a possible attempted child abduction at Lowe's yesterday. We have contacted the person who made the post and we have also responded to Lowe's in order to investigate the incident.

We found no evidence to support the attempted abduction and we are currently working the case as a possible shoplifting from the store.

This event provides us the opportunity to discuss the safety of our children. It is important that as parents, we keep account of our kids and their surroundings. The actions and intentions of others are rarely known and can become issues without notice. Being mindful of our surrounding and being watchful can help provide time needed to keep others safe.
