One-stop shops for flooding recovery services set up in Newton, McDonald counties

Because so many Missourians have been impacted by the historic flooding, SEMA is coordinating with the American Red Cross, theMissouri Department of Social Services, Missouri Department of Mental Health, Missouri Department of Insurance, Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, and local public health agencies, along with faith-based and volunteer agencies to provide one-stop shops for recovery services at Multi-Agency Resource Centers (MARCs).

MARCs provide trained workers who can identify resources for assistance with housing, public assistance, mental health counseling, or to help them understand their insurance policies and the process to file a claim. The first two locations will be open 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8 in Newton and McDonald counties.

SEMA and its partners are scheduling additional MARCs throughout the areas affected by flooding. SEMA and its partners will provide information on the MARC locations as it becomes available, including on the state website, Mo.gov or directly at https://www.mo.gov/safety/disasters/flood/.

The State Emergency Management Agency also encourages flood survivors to utilize United Way 211 to connect with vital resources they may need, such as shelters, clothing, and assistance with cleaning and sanitizing homes impacted by flooding.  The service is available throughout Missouri by simply dialing 2-1-1.

United Way 211 is also available at http://211helps.org and is designed to connect those in need to a wide-range of resources 24-hours a day, seven days a week. United Way 211 can be a lifeline for those coping with the devastation of the flood to find valuable resource with one just call. United Way 211 is free and confidential.
