Lockwood, Jerico Springs residents killed in head-on crash, 2-year-old girl airlifted to Cox South

Two people were killed and one injured in a two-vehicle collision 1:30 p.m. today on Route D, six and a half miles northwest of Lockwood.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2006 Buick LaCrosse driven by Lonnie R. Pierce, 34, Jerico Springs, crossed the center line and struck a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Lennis A. Queen, 66, Lockwood head on causing the Queen vehicle to overturn.








Pierce and Queen were pronounced dead at the scene by Dade County Coroner Gary Banta at 1:33 p.m.

A passenger in the Pierce vehicle, a two-year-old girl, was flown to Cox South Hospital, Springfield, with serious injuries.

The fatalities were the 19th and 20th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
