This week’s officer spotlight is School Resource Officer Jason Barchak.
Officer Barchak has worked for the Joplin Police Department for 14 years. Before joining the Joplin Police Department, Officer Barchak was a waiter and a lifeguard.
Officer Barchak is assigned as a School Resource Officer at “The greatest High School in the Universe” he is quoted in saying (Joplin High School).
During his tenure with the police department Officer Barchak has served as a patrolman, special enforcement bureau officer, bike patrol, and a business liaison officer.
When asked what he wanted the community to know about his job he stated “My current position at the high school is very rewarding in many ways. Building positive relationships with students, assisting the staff as an occasional guest speaker on topics related to law enforcement, and aiding the administration in keeping our youth safe while they gain an education are duties, I'm more than happy to perform.”
Officer Barchak in his off time enjoys golfing, working out, and spending time with his wife and three children.
