Missouri Southern, NEO to sign honors transfer agreement

(From Southern News Service)

Missouri Southern State University and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College will host an honors program transfer agreement at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, in the Regents Room of NEO’s Bruce G. Carter Student Union.

The agreement creates a pathway for NEO honors students who are transferring to join the Missouri Southern Honors Program.

“This gives the students a way to move their honors credits from NEO to our program,” said Rachel Stanley, interim director of the MSSU Honors Program. “When they graduate, they’ll have completed the Honors Program along with their bachelor’s degree.”

Similar agreements are in place with honors programs at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville, Ark., Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield, and Crowder College in Neosho.

The Honors Program at Missouri Southern is a specially-designed academic path that provides challenges and opportunities – such as study abroad and community service projects – for high-achieving students.

The NEO Honors Program, which was established in 2018, allows highly qualified students the opportunity to enroll in “honors only” course sections and complete special honors research projects arranged with faculty members.
