Joplin residents, Jay woman injured in collision on 43

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision 2:35 p.m. today on MO 43, one mile south of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2015 Ford Focus driven by Diana D. Mathews, 72, Joplin, that was slowing and preparing to turn was struck in the rear by a 2016 Toyota Highlander driven by Donald W. Hawthorne, 78, Jay, Oklahoma.







Mathews and her passenger, Charles E. Mathews, 57, Joplin, were treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

A passenger in the Hawthorne vehicle, Joyce M. Hawthorne, 74, Jay, was treated for minor injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
