Stormwater work to close intersection of B Street and Byers Avenue

(From the City of Joplin)

Stormwater construction on the intersection of B Street and Byers Avenue will cause a closure of the intersection and possible traffic delays in this area.

Work begins on Thursday, April 16 and is expected to continue for approximately six weeks, weather permitting. The project will improve the flow of stormwater moving through the intersection and eliminate the long-standing water in the area after rain events.

Work includes installation of a concrete gutter crossing at this intersection, curb and gutter removal and replacement, some sidewalk replacement, and installation of ADA ramps at the four corners of the intersection. Drivers wishing to head east/west will detour to A Street or C Street, while drivers traveling north/south will detour via Moffet Avenue or Pearl Avenue.

Drivers may want to choose alternative routes due to possible delays.

B3 Contractors LLC is completing this stormwater improvement project. It is funded through the Parks and Stormwater Sales Tax, which voters renewed in 2011.
