Police: Joplin teen crossed center line, killed Asbury man in head-on collision

The Joplin Major Crash Team continues the investigation into the fatal crash that took place on April 30, 2020 on Main St/MO HWY 43.

Preliminary investigation shows that a northbound vehicle driven by Silar Reynolds (18 of Joplin, MO) crossed the center line and struck the southbound vehicle driven by Kortney Cobb (31 of Asbury, MO). 

Reynolds was transported to a local hospital for moderate injuries. Cobb was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

On April 30, 2020 at approximately 6:39 A.M. Joplin Police were dispatched to 1800 N. Main St in reference to a injury crash. 

Through the initial investigation is was found that two vehicles collided head on. One vehicle was traveling north bound and one southbound on Main St. 

One driver was transported for medical treatment for moderate injuries to a local hospital. 

The other driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Joplin Police Major Crash Team is investigating this crash. Updates will be released as they become available.
