Some Carthage residents have been receiving scams in the mail.
This scam sends a FRAUDULENT check made out to you and asked you to deposit it into your bank account, then asks you to promptly go buy gift cards and send them the gift card numbers to them.
They say then you will receive funds for your surveying experience from the extra amount on the check that was originally sent which is not real and now you will be frauded out of a few thousand dollars.
This is a common scam tactic.
We recommend you destroy these documents, do not attempt to deposit these checks and help spread the word to your family and friends about not being a victim of fraud.
