Mac County man arrested for DWI, car theft after JPD pursuit begins on Range Line, ends in rollover crash

On September 30th, 2020 at approximately 9:30 pm, an officer with the Joplin Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a gray Ford F-150 near 26th and Rangeline. 

The driver attempted to flee in the vehicle from the officer and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The pursuit came to an end when the suspect crashed into a parked vehicle near the intersection of 13th and Rex Avenue.    

The suspect vehicle rolled over during the crash and came to rest against a building nearby. 









The driver, who was later identified as Daniel T. Craig, age 25 of Jane, Missouri, was highly intoxicated and found to only have minor injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and later released and taken to the Joplin City Jail. 

Further investigation on scene determined the suspect vehicle had just been stolen from the Candlewood Suites hotel parking lot. 

Charges are being sought against Craig for Driving While Intoxicated, Felony Resisting Arrest, Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, Driving with No Headlights, C & I Driving, and Driving with a Suspended License.fter
