(From Southern News Service)Missouri Southern State University’s Lion Pride Weekend will be packed with free activities for first-year students.
On Friday, incoming freshmen will have opportunities to explore campus, meet other students and enjoy refreshments, games and prizes throughout the weekend before classes begin Monday, Aug. 16.
The full schedule is below.
Friday, Aug. 13
10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Residence Hall Move-in: Begins in Blaine Hall Lobby.
Residence Life will have an ice cream truck or shaved ice stationed at the dorms.
4 - 5:30 p.m. Speed Meeting: Lion’s Den. Freshmen can meet their peers in a fun, fast-paced setting.
5 – 7 p.m. Rec Center Open House/Sign up for intramurals.
8 p.m. Outdoor Movie: “Mulan” on the lawn of Mayes Student Life Center. The Campus Activities Board will also host a virtual scavenger hunt using the Goosechase app. The top five participants will win a $50 Amazon gift card.
Saturday, Aug. 14
10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Move-In: Blaine Hall Lobby.
2 p.m. First-Year Student Convocation in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
Freshmen will learn about MSSU’s traditions, receive a medallion and T-shirt and be part of the 2021 freshmen class picture, which will be displayed in Hearnes Hall. Due to COVID-19, parents and guests will not be permitted to attend the First-Year Convocation.
5- 6:30 p.m. Outdoor water games on the lawn of Mayes Student Life Center. Open to all students.
8:30 p.m. MOSO Social sponsored by MOSO students on the lawn of Mayes Student Life Center
Sunday, Aug. 15
10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Move-In: Blaine Hall Lobby.
6 – 7 p.m. Campus Craze, on the Oval. The final party before classes start on Monday, Campus Craze is a longstanding tradition at MSSU. There will be music, refreshments and giveaways. Campus clubs and organizations will be in attendance to hand out information.
7 – 8 p.m. Big Prize Bingo, on the Oval
