Carthage teen injured in crash while trying to avoid deer

A 16-year-old Carthage girl was injured in a one-vehicle accident 9:05 p.m. Thursday on Route O, one mile south of Alba.

According to the Highway Patrol report, the girl, who was driving a 2005 Honda Civic, swerved to miss a deer, traveled off the right side of the roadway, overturned and struck a tree.

The girl was treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
