Blood-soaked meth user arrested after emerging from Jasper County cornfield

On August 26th, 2021, Deputies responded to the area of Civil War and Pine Rd. in rural Jasper County to investigate a reported suspicious vehicle. 

During the investigation a white male, identified as 41- year-old Billy E. Hankins from Sarcoxie, came walking out of a cornfield with his arm wrapped in a bloody shirt. 








Deputy Cady immediately rendered medical aid by placing a tourniquet on Mr. Hankins' arm to restrict the blood loss. EMS was contacted and they responded to the scene and transported Mr. Hankins to the hospital for treatment. 

During the course of the investigation, Mr. Hankins admitted to using methamphetamines the night before and that he had been trespassing at a residence on Pine Rd. where he cut himself by falling through a window. 

Mr. Hankins was taken into custody for a full extradition, no bond, parole violation warrant. (For Burglary 1st degree and stealing a firearm.) 

Additional charges have been submitted to the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney for Trespassing 2nd.
