Jasper Police arrest two, seize meth during traffic stop

On Wednesday, August 18th, 2021 at around 1:40 pm, a Jasper PD officer conducted a traffic stop on a maroon 2005 Pontiac G6 in the parking lot of Dollar General, located at Mercer St. & 6th St., Jasper, Mo.
 
Contact was made with the driver, Steven Jones (Nevada) and Tyler Carr (Nevada).
 
A search of their person and pockets revealed drug paraphernalia. Jones had a spoon that appeared to be used for drug use and a metal rod he stated was used for a drug pipe. Carr had a syringe in his right pocket as well as a large amount of cash.







 
A search of the vehicle was conducted. The following was found:

•Fake rock with a hidden compartment. Inside the compartment was two plastic baggies with white crystal substance, weighing a total of about 3.5 grams. (Found in the front passenger door compartment). Field tested positive for methamphetamine.
 
•Digital weighing scale. (Found near the front, under the front passenger seat).
 
•Diamond Match Box which contained a plastic baggy with a white crystal substance. (Found on the left side of the front driver’s seat). Field tested positive for methamphetamine.
 
Jones and Carr were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
 
Both are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
