Jasper traffic stop leads to meth arrest

On Saturday, April 9th, 2022 at 1853 hours, a Jasper police officer initiated a traffic stop at Thorn and I-49, Jasper, Mo on a green 1995 Ford Thunderbird with Missouri tags.
 
Contact was made with the driver, Shasity Merriman.
 
Merriman was taken into custody for driving while revoked.







 
During a search of the vehicle, the officer located a black zip up pouch in between the driver’s seat and center console. In the pouch was a plastic baggy which contained a white crystal substance, as well as white crystal substance that had fallen out of the baggy which was open. The crystal substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.
 
Merriman was transported to the Jasper County Jail where she was held for possession of a controlled substance and driving while revoked.
 
Note: Merriman is presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
