Quapaw woman killed in crash near 35th and S. Main

(From the Joplin Police Department)

On Friday, April 22nd, 2022 the Joplin Police Department Emergency Communications Center was notified of a vehicle crash near 35th Street and south Main Street.

Officers responded to the crash scene and the initial investigation showed that a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country minivan was traveling southbound on Main Street in the outside lane.

The van sideswiped a 2006 Ford Mustang that was southbound in the inside lane. The van then veered off of the right side of the roadway, striking a curb, a sign and colliding with a guard rail before traveling down an embankment.

The driver of the van, who has been identified as Arajuana A. Hart-Hudson, age 48 of Quapaw, Oklahoma, was transported to Mercy Hospital but was pronounced deceased.

From information gained in the investigation, it is believed that Hart-Hudson suffered a medical emergency while driving, which led to the vehicle crash and her death. Next of kin has been notified.

There were no injuries to the driver or passenger of the other vehicle involved.
