Five Joplin, Carthage residents injured in four-vehicle accident near Carterville

Five people were injured in a four-vehicle accident 5:55 p.m. Saturday on Route HH. two miles east of Carterville.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2004 Dodge Ram driven by Elijah R. Housh, 20, Carthage, struck the rear of a 2012 Nissan Altima driven by Kyle L. Florer, 20, Carthage, causing the Florer vehicle to cross the center line and hit a 2006 Honda Ridgeline driven by Lawrence E. Thomas, 84, Carthage, causing it to travel off the roadway and overturn.








The Housh vehicle then struck a 2020 Jeep Gladiator driven by Kathi M. Lee, 53, Joplin, causing it to hit a stop sign.

Thomas and Housh were treated for serious and minor injuries, respectively, and a passenger in the Thomas vehicle, Florence E. Thomas, 82, Carthage, for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

Lee was treated for minor injuries and a passenger in the Florer vehicle, Zachary A. Nichols, 27, Carthage, for moderate injuries at Mercy McCune-Brooks Hospital, Carthage.
